Who?
Mothers Out Front Pioneer Valley and Climate Action Now cordially invite you to welcome the Baker-Polito Administration to Western Mass, where pipelines are a bridge to nowhere.
What?
Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Matthew Beaton is announcing a “Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Program to Assist Communities in Preparing for Climate Change by Building Resilience”
When?
Wednesday, April 19, 2017, 9:30am
Where?
Bridge of Flowers on Buckland side, adjacent to 16 State Street.
Rain Location: McCusker’s Market Community Room, 3 State Street
Why?
Kinder Morgan now has a permit to begin tree felling in Otis State Forest. We want the Baker Administration to know that their policy of promoting fracked gas pipelines is poisoning water and land, hurting families’ health, causing massive increases in methane, which is a potent Greenhouse Gas. The deal cut to build new gas infrastructure in Otis State Forest violates Article 97 of the MA Constitution which protects conserved land.
Message:
Resilience is important, so we’re planning a silent but visually powerful presence.
Dust off those old No Pipeline signs.
Our message is:
Stop the pipeline.
Protect children’s rights to a healthy, clean energy future.
Actions:
Meet on the Buckland side at 9:30am. Bring your No Pipeline sign. Ceremony begins at 10am.
We’ll also supply signs that say “RESILIENCE AND” with space to write in SAVE OTIS, STOP FRACKING, HOLD TO ARTICLE 97, ENERGY EFFICIENCY, SOLAR POWER, NO PIPELINES, etc.
We’ll have copies of The Lorax on hand that families can ask Beaton to sign and then hand him a card from their family or a flier explaining why we need to double our efforts to stop using fossil fuels and go 100% Renewable.
