Supporting Natural Solutions

The Natural Solutions Working Groups of Climate Action Now (formerly The Regenerative Farming, Forests, and Food Systems group, RF3) believe that limiting pollution and fossil fuel emissions are crucial. But these actions alone will not ensure a healthy future. We need comprehensive, whole-system solutions.

We strive to work in harmony with nature to maintain and restore our ecological lifelines. We respect all living beings on Planet Earth and the complex natural systems in which they participate — both for their intrinsic value and for the essential role they play in our continued well being.  We collaborate with allies to educate the public and advocate for legislation and policies to protect forests as Wildlands, build healthy soils through regenerative organic agriculture, and ensure a just and healthy food system.

We invite you to join one of our three working groups:

Everyone is welcome to get involved with the Climate Action Now Miyawaki Forest Project!

The Miyawaki method is a technique for cultivating fast-growing tiny forests composed of dense plantings of native trees and understory plants. Before planting, soil is enriched with locally-available organic matter. The forests are weeded and watered for only the first three years. These little forests of native trees grow faster, and remove more carbon than trees planted in traditional ways. We are currently evaluating sites for our demonstration project. Once we have selected the site we will need many hands to help us create and nurture our Miyawaki Forest. You can contact us at [email protected]

CREATE ~ fARMER SOLIDARITY

Gathering at Pie in the Sky

CREATE aims to build a strong network of community members (Farm Friends) who can provide climate resilience support to local farms. This includes helping farmers affected by climate disasters, assisting with emergency efforts, and supporting long-term resilience planning, with an emphasis on solidarity and relationship-building within the community.

CREATE promotes regenerative farming practices, highlighting their benefits for climate mitigation, soil health, and food diversity. It contrasts these practices with conventional farming, which is linked to environmental harm such as deforestation, soil degradation, water contamination, and biodiversity loss.

CREATE supports programs and agencies that serve area farmers, with special attention to new and BIPOC farmers. CREATE Farm Friends advocates for food justice to build a fair, sustainable, regenerative farming future.

CREATE will back policies and initiatives that help farmers steward their land. It seeks to close the gap between farmers and consumers, foster hope and joy, and keep participants engaged through educational and social events. Contact us at [email protected]
