Early in the pandemic, Lower Valley Mutual Aid formed in the Holyoke/ Springfield area to strengthen connections among neighbors and share talents and resources. Katie Talbot and Zulmalee Rivera, from Neighbor to Neighbor (N2N) have worked to support Neighborhood Point Persons who agree to be neighborhood leaders. They have launched both the Appleseed Time Share Bank, where people offer their skills through bartering, connecting people through sharing tasks and talents, and they helped establish the Lower Valley Mutual Aid Fund. In the midst of the pandemic the group continues to thrive – building strong neighborhood ties in Chicopee, Holyoke, and Springfield.
