TWO BALLOT INITIATIVES for 2020 (deadline: JUNE 30)

Who is tired of advocating for state legislation like 100% renewable energy, only to see it disappear or die in a committee (again)? How did our representatives on the committee vote? It’s a mystery! It’s time for transparency at the statehouse, and it’s time for 100% renewable energy.

So here are 2 ballot questions! People from Climate Action Now are working of the effort to get non-binding questions on the Nov. ballot. Please consider signing the official state request (digitally) if you are a registered voter to put the questions on the ballot. We only need 200 good signatures in each district.

TO ADD YOUR SIGNATURE: Simply go to maclimatedemocracy.org, select your district, put in your name and address, and draw your signature using your mouse, finger or touchpad. SIGN TWICE, ONCE FOR EACH PETITION!

You can find more info about this effort at maclimatedemocracy.org, headed up by Act On Mass and 350 Mass.

Please help us reach 200 signatures in 3 key districts: If you know anyone in one of these districts, please consider reaching out and making a one-on-one personal ask of that person.

  • 2nd Hampshire District (Easthampton, Hadley, South Hadley, lower Granby
  • 3rd Hampshire District (Amherst, Pelham, upper Granby)
  • 1st Franklin District (Sunderland, Williamsburg, Whately, Deerfield, Shutesbury, Leverett, Goshen, Montague, Conway, Buckland, Ashfield, Shelburne, Huntington, Chesterfield, Plainfield, Chester, Middlefield, Worthington, Cummington)

THE BALLOT QUESTIONS:

CLIMATE Shall the representative for this district be instructed to vote in favor of legislation that would require Massachusetts to achieve 100% renewable energy use within the next two decades, starting immediately and making significant progress within the first five years while protecting impacted workers and businesses?

DEMOCRACY Shall the representative for this district be instructed to vote in favor of changes to the Legislature’s rules that would make the results of all votes in Legislative committees publicly available on the Legislature’s website?
