This bill creates both the infrastructure needed to transition to electric energy as well as providing assistance to those who cannot afford to install the necessary technology.

Dear Chair Barrett and Chair Roy and Members of the TUE Committee:
My name is Jenny Daniell, and I help chair the legislative committee of Climate Action Now, the largest climate organization in western Massachusetts, with over 3,500 associated volunteers and members.
We thank you for your work on the An Act relative to the Future of Clean Heat in the Commonwealth ( S.2105 / H.3203)
It is extremely important to my community that we fund an infrastructure for clean, electric renewable heat – replacing our current fossil fuel powered grid. In our area, elderly and low income people are suffering from fairly extreme heat, smoke from fires, and houses in our area needed to be evacuated because of flooding. Orchards and farmers in the western part of the state are in deep financial trouble as a result of the unusual and damaging weather. These local disasters can be mitigated by this forward thinking bill. We all need the opportunity to transition to electric heat pumps, and this bill creates both the infrastructure to transition as well as provide assistance to those who cannot afford to install the technology that is needed for our transition to electric energy.
Accordingly, we urge you to give a favorable report to An Act relative to the Future of Clean Heat in the Commonwealth ( S.2105 / H.3203)
The teenagers and young adults in my community are traumatized by the realities that there may not be a future for them unless we all take bold action together. Please support these bills as part of the climate solutions that must be passed into law this year.
Sincerely,
Jenny A. Daniell, Esq.
